Is there a dress code?
Yes! We request all guests to dress in cocktail attire for our celebration.
For the ladies: Cocktail, Midi, or Maxi dress, Pantsuit/Jumpsuit.
For the gents: Suit & tie or Sport coat & slacks with dress shoes.
Please keep in mind our ceremony and reception is outdoors on grass and sand, plan your shoe wear wisely or bring a comfortable back up!
How should I pack?
The average temperatures on Spring Island in April can range from 54-74 degrees, but can certainly fluctuate. The evenings will be cooler and it can be windy on the marsh, so please bring appropriate layers.
Where will I be staying?
The wedding party and some immediate family members will be housed on the island. You will be notified by the Darr family via email (Laura Darr, ntnylions@gmail.com) if this option is available to you. Spring Island is a private, gated community in a remote location. There are about 350 member-owned homes, and many of them have guest cottages. The Darr family will assign you a cottage to stay in for the weekend. Please keep in mind that this is someone’s home and not a hotel, so please be respectful! There will be no reservation cost but please expect to contribute to a cleaning fee after your stay.
For those requiring hotel reservations, we have blocks reserved at the Holiday Inn, 2225 Boundary Street, Beaufort and the Springhill Suites, 2227 Boundary Street, Beaufort. These will be held until Tuesday April 1st, 2025. See the travel & accommodations section on this website for further details. There are also beautiful B&Bs, Air BnBs and VRBOs in the area should this be of interest, or if you would like to extend your stay and make a vacation of your trip. Please be sure to check the accommodations section of our website for details and support.
Do I need a car?
We recommend a car no matter where you are staying.
While we will be providing transportation to and from the Beaufort Holiday Inn for the events on Saturday, if you are flying in we do recommend renting a car. Uber/Lyft/Personal Taxi Services are not plentiful or reliable in the area. It may be efficient to rent a car with a group of people attending the wedding, if logistically feasible for your party.
Can you tell me more about transportation?
Parking space is very limited on Spring Island. We are asking for all guests who live or are staying in Beaufort to take the provided buses. They will leave from the Holiday Inn parking lot at 2225 Boundary Street, Beaufort, SC promptly at 3:15. It is important for all guests to board the shuttles on time.
At the conclusion of the reception, the return shuttle will depart from the Golf House at 10:15 p.m.
Guests who live or are staying in Bluffton or Savannah, please contact Carolyn or Greg directly to secure a Spring Island gate pass. If you are staying on the island, one will be provided for you.
Uber/Lyft does not service Spring Island, so please plan accordingly.
Are children invited?
Children 16 and over are welcome. For those under 16, with love, and respectfully, no. If you are traveling from out town and require childcare for your little one during the event, please consider the following trusted and reputable options:
Excellent Nanny Care
Guardian Angels
Hilton Head Nannies
Care.com
For peace of mind, please know that all of these agencies are licensed and bonded.
Where can I direct questions about the weekend?
You can send us an email at XYZ anytime!
